Ever wondered what Nick Cave's soul would sound like if it were conceived in South London in the late eighties whilst The Smiths played in the background? Well look no further.
Their debut album, Smile that won't do down was released in June. You'll be tweeting their lyrics in no time with lyrics such as "she'll thumb suck her way around you," and "you fuck me hard, hard in the arse like a superstar".
Torres is a songstress from Nashville whose:
- first name isn't Fernando,
- tumblr blog is pretty cool, if you like that sorta thing,
- self titled debut album is a display of great musical talent and a sure fire warning flare of genius to come.
Torres is one of those artists you just know is going to grow to be something really and truly special. For now, we must make do with her beautiful debut - I especially love Honey and Moon & Black.
Phantogram are a revelation for anyone who is a fan of psych-pop and female vocalists. Their 2011 EP Nightlife is one of my favourite bits of music ever, with the incredible Don't move.
Last week Phantogram uploaded their new single, Black out days, to soundcloud and youtube (although the video was blocked by the bands new label Universal... weird).
If they're upcoming second, un-named album is anything like Black out days, I think we're all in for a treat.
I don't see why throwback Thursdays should be exclusively for over-exposed celebrities on Instagram. As much as I am a greedy feind when it comes to getting really new music in my ears, I love revisiting past loves.
Geidi Primes is one such love. Before Grimes blew up EVERYWHERE with Visions in 2012, she was already showing sure signs of genius with her 2010 offering.
If you're not already on the bandwagon, you need to listen to this album. I would strongly recommend getting acquainted with Rosa and avi if you want a taster.
As we enter the end stretch of anticipation for FKA twigs' EP2, we have been treated to a video of the second track on the EP - Papi pacify.
It is immense.
Get ready to have this on repeat until the EP's release date - 17/09 - when you can add the other 3 tracks to a never ending loop of obsession.
If her track record with releasing a video for every song on her EPs is anything to go by, we can expect another video from EP2 for Ultraviolet. I, for one, can't wait for another visual and auditory feast.
Brand new Arcade fire has found its way onto our screens in the shape of Reflektor. At almost 8 minutes long, Reflektor is more than just a taste of what to expect from their forthcoming album. Get up and dance.
