Lady lamb the beekeeper - Ripely pine

Lady lamb the beekeeper is an incredible talent. The singer songwriter is half Screaming females, half Jeff Buckley (I think).

It's a crime that Ripely Pine wasn't on more best of 2013 lists.

Unknown mortal orchestra - II

Unknown mortal orchestra's second album has been called out as one of the best albums of the first half of 2013 by the likes of Gorilla vs Bear and alike.

The Portland bands 60's vibe conjures up images and situations that are completely at odds with the album's witchy cover art. Hint - ii makes me want to dance like Jermaine.

Maybe Gorilla vs Bear were right this time...

Torres - Torres

Torres is a songstress from Nashville whose:
- first name isn't Fernando,
- tumblr blog is pretty cool, if you like that sorta thing,
- self titled debut album is a display of great musical talent and a sure fire warning flare of genius to come.

Torres is one of those artists you just know is going to grow to be something really and truly special. For now, we must make do with her beautiful debut - I especially love Honey and Moon & Black.

Zola Jesus - Versions

In her 4th studio album, our beloved Zola Jesus offers up alternate, neo classical versions from her discography. Be prepared to want to revisit everything she has ever done after listening to this. My personal favourite version is the triumphant Fall Back.
